Which is the best season or month for trekking to gokyo valley and gokyo ri?

Gokyo Valley and Gokyo Ri can be trekked all around the year. However, there are some peculiar seasons that add to the beauty of this trekking trail. Amongst all the seasons Autumn Sept. to Nov. and spring March to May are the best time for Trekking. The weather is delightful and pleasant during autumn. The mountain views are astonishing.

The hills are adorned with blooming rhododendron during spring. This is the reason why the trekkers find spring as the best time for trekking towards Gokyo Lake or Gokyo Valley. This is the time when Mother Nature is at her best engulfed into a flowery colour of red and green.

The winter months of Dec-Feb are not preferred by most due to their harsh weather. It is extremely cold and has a thick cloudy cover more often than not. As a result, the views are unclear and it remains concealed.

Trekking in Gokyo Valley is possible in the summer months of June until Mid-September however the climate is hot and unbearable for some trekkers. Besides that, there is every chance of heavy rainfall making it difficult for commuting up into the mountains and also creating transportation setbacks. Hence summer months are generally less frequent.

How to prepare for Gokyo Valley Trek? Is gokyo valley trek hard?

Be aware that you have to consistently hike up and down on uneven trails with a backpack that involves a walk that ranges between 5-7 hours. Though the Gokyo Valley Trekking is considered to be a moderate one it can sometimes be challenging. Regular exercise, jogging, and short hiking is the key to excelling in the high mountains. The more your train the better it is for your calves’ muscles and also helps build your stamina and makes you trek-ready with confidence. Prior trekking experience and technical skills are recommended but not compulsory. These prior skills will be an asset if you possess them.

Beautiful Gokyo trek with stunning scenery

Congratulations to Dipak and his team for a truly great experience for my son and I. Well organised and adaptable & resourceful when our flight to Lukla was diverted due to poor weather. Got us on the next available flight and thank you to his local man Mudjee for taking great care of us there. So once we arrived at Lukla we met our guide Gyeljen and our porter Pasang. They greeted us and said we are now family and that is how they looked after us. Gyeljen is a wonderful man, full of energy, humour and knowledge and a great view on life. I really couldn't imagine doing our trek with anyone else as guide. Nothing was too much trouble or effort. And the same can be said for Pasang, always smiling even with his heavy load. So please that we met you both and made our experience very rewarding and memorable. Thank you both.
And lastly if you are looking for the best trekking company contact Dipak he will look after you and make sure your Nepal adventure is truly awesome.
Would highly recommend Nepal Trekking Planner. If I get the chance to return that's who I'll be using.

      Gokyo Valley with Gyeljen Sherpa!

A massive thank you to Dipak and his team at Nepal Trekking Planner for an unforgettable adventure.

Our trip started with a bit of chaos—our flight to Lukla was diverted due to Ramechhap bad weather—but Dipak handled it with such calm and efficiency. He got us on the next available flight and made sure we were looked after in the meantime, thanks to their local guy Mudjee.

When we finally landed in Lukla, we met our guide, Gyeljen, and porter, Pasang, and honestly, the trek wouldn’t have been the same without them.

From the very first hello, Gyeljen’s energy and warmth were infectious. He has this incredible way of making you feel at ease, no matter how tough the trail gets. Even on the hardest days he kept us laughing and motivated. It’s clear he loves what he does and that passion made the whole trek feel special.

Pasang was equally amazing—always smiling, even with a load that would’ve stopped most people in their tracks. Together, they made us feel like we weren’t just clients but part of their family.

If you’re planning a trek in Nepal, I can’t recommend these guys enough. Dipak’s team is organized, thoughtful, and genuinely invested in making your experience unforgettable. And if you’re lucky enough to have Gyeljen as your guide, you’re in for something truly special. If I get the chance to go back, I’d book with them again in a heartbeat.
