Trip Explanation: Everest Sherpa Cultural Scenic Trekking Map
The Everest Sherpa Cultural Scenic Trekking starts in Kathmandu, Nepal's capital city. From Kathmandu, trekkers take a scenic 35-minute flight from the domestic section of Tribhuvan International Airport of Nepal. The airplane then lands at the Tenzing Hillary Airport of Lukla. The flight from Kathmandu to Lukla is considered one of the most thrilling flights in the world due to its small and narrow airstrip. So, the Everest Sherpa Cultural trek starts with an exciting journey offering breathtaking views of the Himalayan landscape.
After landing at Lukla, official trekking in the Everest begins. The trek unfolds toward Phakding from Lukla, the first overnight stop on the Everest Sherpa Cultural Scenic Trekking itinerary. With the first overnight stay, the trek unfolds towards Namche. Namche is the most popular settlement in the Everest region, and it used to be a trading port with Tibet in the past.
However, Namche is now a marketplace with several attractions, including monasteries, stupas, and museums. Namche also has several accommodation options, cafes, shops, and pubs, making it one of the most vibrant settlements of the Khumbu region. Namche is also the first acclimatization stop in the Everest Sherpa Cultural Scenic Trekking. Trekkers hike up to Everest View Hotel for acclimatization. The Everest View Hotel is 3880 meters higher than Namche, so hiking at a higher altitude allows trekkers to adapt their bodies to lower oxygen levels and prepare for the trek the following day. The acclimatization day allows for local excursions, photography, and other activities.
After an exciting Namche acclimatization day, trekkers head towards the following location on the Sherpa Cultural Scenic Trekking Map, Khumjung. Trekkers move to Khumjung from Namche via Kunde village. Khumjung is a small monastery village above Namche Bazaar, home to Khumjung Monastery, built 400 years ago. Similarly, the Khumjung village also has Khumjung Hillary School, built by the first Mount Everest climber, Sir Edmund Hillary.
As trekkers make past Khumjung, the following location on the Sherpa Cultural Scenic Trekking Map is Debouche, a small stop on the Everest Base Camp Trekking route. After Debouche, the next stop is Dingboche, another prominent location on the Everest Base Camp Trekking route. Dingboche is another acclimatization stop, where trekkers hike up to Nangkartshang peak, designed to help the body adapt to the lower oxygen level.
After Dingboche, trekkers will take a helicopter and fly over the Everest Base Camp, marked by yellow tents used by climbers intending to climb the Everest summit. After the flyover, the aircraft lands in Kalapatthar. Kalapatthar is a vantage point that allows trekkers to see the full view of Everest, and it is renowned for its sunrise and sunset views. Likewise, visitors to Kalapatthar can also see the Khumbu Glacier and Khumbu Icefall, which are the most enormous glaciers in the Khumbu region.
After spending quality time in Kala Patthar, the helicopter returns to Lukla for the scheduled flight to Kathmandu. Upon reaching Kathmandu, the Everest Cultural Scenic Hiking with Trekking Planner Nepal ends—best wishes for your future endeavors.
