Trip Introduction: 1 Day Nagarkot Sankhu Day Hiking.

A day hike from Sankhu to Nagarkot leads you to a peaceful environment visiting the ancient town of Sankhu to scenic Nagarkot hill where you will be rewarded with a stunning sunrise over the array of Himalayan peaks in the comfort of nice lodges and mountain resorts.

A day hike starts in the early morning after breakfast then heading towards northeast of Kathmandu valley reaching a walking point in Sankhu, located northeast of Kathmandu city, a peaceful small town where its ancient name knew Shankharpur, served as the exit point to Lhasa / Tibet in earlier days of Trans Himalayan Caravan Trade Route.

Sankhu is enriched with the old famous temple Bajrayogini, history describes where king Mana Dev once mediated at Gun Bihar in the Sankhu area.

Sankhu's time to visit 4th-century water spouts with artistically decorated statues truly confirms this ancient site Bajrayogini was once an ancient religious site of Kathmandu Valley.

It was renovated during the period of Pratap Malla, a famous king of the Malla regime in Nepal.

After a lovely historic and religious moment walk begins with a climb to reach Kartike Bhanjyang a small village overlooking views of Kathmandu valley, where the walk climbs toward steep uphill within pine woodland and finally ending our hike at the scenic viewpoint of Nagarkot located above the 2,100 m high.
