Tour of Kathmandu city (UNESCO SITES)

After an exciting tour of Durbar Square, take a short drive to Swayambhunath, located west of the city. The famous landmark of Nepal, an old stupa of more than 2,600 years, stands on a hillock above the valley floor.

The Great Stupa of Swayambhunath is listed as a World Heritage Site with the all-seeing eyes of Lord Buddha around four cardinal points. This scenic green hill, a mosaic of small Chaityas and pagoda temples, houses various Buddhist monuments.

From Swayambhunath, there are great views of Kathmandu city and the valley; on a clear day, one can overlook snow peaks towards the north. From Swayambhunath, after a wonderful moment, the tour extends heading east of Kathmandu city to Bouddhanath, where a beautiful Buddhist shrine stands.

Bouddhanath, Asia’s largest colossal stupa built in the 6th century A.D. by King Man Dev, is a huge Buddhist monument. A series of three terraces with the relevant shape of a lotus flower when viewed from air distance. It is a holy site for all Buddhists; the stupa is surrounded by a circular market, also known as Little Tibet.

The great stupa with Lord Buddha's eyes in four directions, this spiritual site embraces the authentic philosophy of Mahayana. One of the main groups of Buddhism is known as Lamaism in Nepal, Sikkim, Ladakh, Bhutan, and Tibet.

Bouddhanath is one of the interesting and exciting places on the Kathmandu Heritage Tour; from here, it's a short drive to Pashupatinath Temple. The main hub of the Hindu religion is located south of Bouddhanath and east of Kathmandu city.

An important Hindu pagoda temple with golden roofs and four silver doors, the temple of Lord Shiva. Located on the bank of the Bagmati River, Pashupatinath Temple is the nerve center for all Hindus. Once a year, thousands of pilgrims from India and Nepal visit the Pashupatinath temple on the day of 'Shiva-Ratri,' the birth anniversary of Lord Shiva.

Which falls in February as per the Hindu lunar calendar, an exciting holy place to observe devotees in worship. Pashupatinath Temple is a large complex; one can spend time on the opposite bank of the river and witness religious activities. After completing an exciting Kathmandu Heritage Tour, a short drive takes you back to the hotel.

Best time for Kathmandu Heritage Tour and mountain flight:

Nepal is for all seasons; however, the best time in spring, autumn, and winter seasons is for this type of leisure tour. Spring starts from March to May, autumn/fall from September to November, and winter begins from December to February. The most favorable times are spring and autumn seasons, during spring clear days with longer sunlight hours. Cold in the late afternoon, night, and morning times, days are pleasant for a pleasant tour. Autumn is another best season when days are clear for views and tours, much colder in the morning, late afternoon, and nighttime with short sunlight hours.

The winter season is also a good time for a tour, where days are clear with blue sky but can be very cold in the morning and nighttime with short sunlight.
