Kathmandu is a destination that has been very popular since the 1970's as being the capital city and the gateway to the Nepalese Himalayas and a hub of Nepal.

Being the capital city and the most developed city in Nepal, here all the required and desired services, amenities, accommodations, and hospitality facilities are available. The city could be traveled during any season because of the good weather, available facilities, and mild temperature conditions.

Why to visit Chitwan National Park?

Chitwan National Park which was established in 1973, was Nepal’s first National park established in order to preserve One Horned Rhinos and Royal Bengal Tigers. In 1984 UNESCO declared this place a world heritage site after recognizing its unique significance and the role it plays, in an international way for the preservation of some of the most endangered species in the world. Jungle safari, elephant polo, canoe ride in the park, jungle walk, village walk, birdwatching, wildlife, and observing the local tribes are some of the major attractions of this place.

Chitwan is less crowded and the temperature is warm comparatively higher than Kathmandu and the weather conditions are favorable at tropical monsoon. Accommodation, amenities, and hospitality-related facilities are also provided in a good manner.

Why to visit Lumbini?

Lumbini is the most famous Buddhist Pilgrimage site in the world. This place is known as the birthplace of lord Gautama Buddha and contains many mysteries, artifacts, archaeology, and discoveries related to Buddhism and is regarded as a place that is a fully enlightened holy pilgrimage, a path to nirvana, freedom from ignorance, cravings, and dark desires. We could see and observe people making organic trees, bamboo products, ghees, storing the crops, vegetating, and witness many flora and fauna as well.

There are many ethnic groups in the region widely known as Brahmins, Chhetris, Gurung, and Magar, and there is a long list of ethnic groups but, we could shortly divide them into the Mongolian and Aryan tribes. The culture and traditions differ according to the caste which is the main reason why this place is rich in culture and tradition. Travel insurance is not mandatory but,Trekking Planner Nepal strongly advises and recommends all our clients. to purchase Travel as well as Medical Insurance against unforeseen circumstances that might arise or may occur during the Himalayan holidays. Traveling and Medical Insurance must be done and obtained for traveling toward Himalayan destinations.

Trekking Planner Nepal requests all our Clients acquire Travel and Medical Insurance which is compulsory before going on any tour or trek. Can we get altitude Mountain Sickness?

Altitude Mountain Sickness could affect anyone. At high altitudes, the decrease in atmospheric pressure makes breathing difficult due to less oxygen. Mainly, it happens above 3300m (10,000ft).

Signs and symptoms are as follows:

  • Headache/Dizziness.
  • Nausea/Vomiting.
  • Tiredness/Fatigue.
  • Sleepy but can’t sleep.
  • Loss of appetite.
  • Stress/Anger.

Prevention for AMS is to dress warmly as per weather conditions, drink plenty of water, eat well and walk slowly in a pace. It is good to ask and take rest or sleep if the body is not feeling well. Keep hydrated and make sure you follow the directions and suggestions provided by the trip leader regarding altitude mountain sickness.

Note - Always feel free to ask the trek leader or Guide to stop if you don't feel good. Sometimes we might feel it’s just a little bit of dizziness but, that little thing is the thing that leads to water inside your brain or lungs before you even know it. Prevention is always better than cure.

How are the Accommodation facilities at poon hill?

All of our hikes, trekking trails, and tour programs are conducted on the basis of itineraries where accommodations are set in respective Hotels, Lodges, Home Stays, Guest Houses, and Resorts. Some trails could take longer or could be shorter depending upon the fitness and pace of the clients, availability of vehicles, delays or cancellations in flights, unfavorable or bad weather conditions, roads, or trails.

Being a developing country when we are going up in the hilly region as the elevation increases the vegetation and the density of local people decrease which is the major reason why sometimes we need to compromise in terms of best services but, being a tourist route still, most of the facilities are available while some things may require compromise. For example- 24hour electricity, laundry services (because of lack of warm temperature and sunlight), wi-fi, meat and eggs, fruits, hot showers, toilet commode, quality of room and availability (standard quality rooms are found which are designed for meeting the basic requirements). However, the best services and facilities are provided but, sometimes we need to compromise according to the limited facilities and hospitalities found in the particular area.

Water and Toilet facilities at poon hill

When we trail towards the high lands the quality of services must be compromised because of the locally available limited natural and artificial facilities. Hot showers are not available in some places due to a lack of gases and wood in the higher areas due to which clients must pay extra for the biomass required to produce heat for making hot water or showering and drinking. Mineral waters are not available due to lack of transportation so, it’s better to carry a bottle that filters the water as it goes in, or carrying water cleaning capsules can also be an ideal choice.

Being a rural area and due to lack of water some places lodges, tea shops, and hotels have a squat toilet where you are required to squat in order to do the waste management of the body. That’s not the only reason but, modern western toilets require at least 2-3 liters of water for flushing which is impossible to fulfill due to the lack of infrastructure related to drainage.

Electricity and Internet facilities at poon hill

Being an under develop the country and due to a lack of infrastructure the facilities related to electricity are not available on some regions and even if they are available to load -shedding, a shortage of electricity could occur due to natural or artificial reasons. Carrying a power bank is recommended in order to charge the battery of cell phones, cameras, torches, or other devices.

Recharging the battery requires extra fees in some places due to the fact that they are buying or using electricity from external sources. For example generators, solar, and even private hydro-powers.

The case of wi-fi is the same due to electricity as well as the private poles and the amount of money the locals have to invest heavily on poles, wires, and internet service providers due to which the wi-fi requires a certain amount of payment but varies from place to place and is not applicable everywhere.

A private car, accompanied by our Tour Guide, will pick you up and head to Lalitpur to explore Patan Durbar Square. The drive will take about an hour, and once you reach Lalitpur, commence the tour. You will visit the following popular attractions of Patan Durbar Square:

                              • Tour of Krishna Mandir: Viewing the architectural marvels during the tour, you will come across the famous Krishna Mandir. The temple, regarded as the Gem of Patan Durbar Square, is crafted from a single stone. The temple consists of three stories with 21 gold pinnacles. The statue of Krishna and his beloved Radha is on the first floor. The second floor houses Lord Shiva, and the third floor houses Lokeshwor. Made in Shikhar style, the Krishna Mandir is crowded with thousands of Hindu pilgrims, making it a primary attraction of Durbar Square.
                              • Khumbeshwor: The next prominent destination in the square is the five-story temple of Khumbeshwor. Built in a pagoda style, it was dedicated to Lord Shiva, the destroyer, by King Jayasthiti Malla. The temple has a natural spring, thought to originate from the glacial lakes of Gosaikunda.
                              • Mahaboudha: An ancient clay-brick Buddhist temple located on the east side of Patan Durbar Square, approximately a 10-minute walk from the square. The temple consists of thousands of images of Lord Buddha, the founder of Buddhism. It is also the first Buddhist temple to be constructed in the Shikhar style and is known as the Temple of Nine Thousand Buddhas. The temple, also known as Syangtung in Tibetan, holds religious significance for Tibetan Buddhists.
                              • Rudra Varna Mahavihar: Moving past Khumbeshwor, visitors can see the Rudra Varna Mahavihar. The temple is a living museum that houses metal, stone, wooden Buddhist figures, monuments, and statues. According to some legends, the monastery also served as a site of the King's coronation in ancient times.
                              • The Ashoka Stupas: The Patan Durbar Square comprises four Buddhist temples built by Emperor Ashoka. These stupas mark the four ends of Patan Durbar Square: Lagan Thura (the southern stupa), Teta Thura (the eastern stupa), Pucho Thura (the western stupa), and Ibahi Thura (the northern stupa).
                              • Patan Museum: The Patan Museum is a UNESCO World Heritage Site inaugurated by the Late King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev. The museum carefully conserves ancient Nepalese cultural and religious heritage. A total of 300 objects is kept on public display, most of which are sculptures of Hindu and Buddhist deities. There are also objects from the Malla era and other metal works from the prehistoric period. Similarly, the museum interprets the living culture and tradition of the Nepalese.

After exploring Patan Durbar Square, you can take a lunch break if you are hungry. You can taste local cuisine at a restaurant near Durbar Square. After completing the Patan Durbar Square, return to Kathmandu. As you return to Kathmandu, participate in the farewell dinner with company members and owners. We will celebrate the completion of your budget-friendly holiday in Nepal. We hope to get some feedback during the dinner.
