What is the best time for the helicopter tour to Everest and the night stay at Hotel Everest View?

The helicopter tour to Everest and the night stay at Hotel Everest View can be done all year round. However, spring and autumn are the best seasons for the Everest Heli tour with Hotel Everest View stay.

Spring in Nepal lasts from March to May. During these months, the weather is moderate, providing favourable walking conditions. Similarly, the spring months are marked by clear skies that enable an unobstructed view of the mountains. Likewise, the spring days are comparatively longer, which aids in spending a longer duration exploring.

The autumn season in Nepal lasts from September to November, another best season for the helicopter tour to Everest Base Camp. The autumn months have stable weather conditions with excellent visibility of the Himalayas. Likewise, the landscape is lush and vibrant, with greenery at the lower altitude. Similarly, the autumn period is when the grandest festivals in Nepal, like Dashain and Tihar, fall, so individuals will have an opportunity to get a first-hand experience of Nepalese culture and tradition.

On the other hand, the Everest Heli tour with Hotel Everest View stay can be done in winter and monsoon season, but the experience can be compromised due to bad weather conditions. The winter lasts from June to August, and extreme cold climatic conditions mark winter in Everest. Likewise, the monsoon in Everest lasts from December to February and is marked by foggy mornings and hot temperatures. Both these seasons obstruct the mountain view as well as hinder the experience. Such seasons require comprehensive planning and are only recommended for hardcore adventure enthusiasts.

Highlights Of Hotel Everest View?

Hotel Everest View is a famous hotel in the Khumbu region renowned for its stunning views of Mount Everest and other Himalayan peaks. It is situated at 13000 ft and holds the record for the hotel opened at the highest altitude.
The Hotel provides accommodation facilities with a 360-degree view of mesmerizing mountain peaks. This allows individuals to capture the breathtaking scenario and immerse in local delicacies.

The key highlights of Hotel Everest view are described below:

Panoramic mountain view:

The Hotel Everest View stands out for its splendid panoramic view of the surrounding mountain peaks. In 1868, the breathtaking scenery from Syangboche enchanted Takashi Miyahara; thus, he envisioned building a world-class hotel at the very spot. The dream became a reality when the construction was completed and what is now known as the Hotel Everest View. The hotel now stands out for its stunning mountain vistas and is a special stop for those embarking on the Everest Base camp trek. Similarly, one can see mesmerizing views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Amadablam, Kangtega, and many others.

High-altitude luxury accommodation:

The accommodation in the Hotel Everest View is considered luxury, as all twelve rooms offer a panoramic view of Mt. Everest and other surrounding peaks. Trekkers or visitors staying in Everest View get luxury amenities like room heaters, electric blankets, free Wi-Fi, laundry service, a dining room, a bar, and a souvenir shop.

Helicopter access:

Another good thing about Hotel Everest View is that it is easily accessible by helicopter. Helicopter operators can both land and pick up passengers from the hotel, allowing passengers to explore the Everest region from a different perspective. Similarly, those who do not prefer to trek on the Everest trekking trail can experience flying over the Himalayas through helicopter. Visitors can choose a private Everest Helicopter tour with a stay at Hotel Everest View for more direct flights rather than trekking.

Sherpa Cultural Immersion:

The Hotel Everest View is located in the Sagarmatha region which Sherpa people locally inhabit. Likewise, Sherpas have a long trekking, climbing, and mountaineering history. Similarly, sherpa people also have strong cultural, religious, and traditional beliefs, which are understandable by the landmarks, stupas, chortens, and monasteries present there. Accommodation in Everest view thus allows guests to immerse in the local culture and visit landmarks to learn about the Sherpa way of life. People can also enjoy captivating mountain stories and sample regional cuisine, providing further insights into traditional practices during their Everest Sherpa cultural scenic trekking experience.

Food Options in the Hotel Everest view

Similarly, a heavy coffee intake can cause dehydration, which can result in altitude sickness. So, limit coffee usage. Individuals can also carry dry fruits, energy bars, and other snacks for the day to energize during the tour.

Is the Everest helicopter tour of the Himalayas with landing dangerous?

The Everest helicopter tour is generally considered safe. However, as it commences at a high altitude, some factors need to be understood.

Climatic and weather:

One of the primary factors directly proportional to the helicopter flight is the climate and weather. Being at a high elevation, the weather conditions often fluctuate, raising the safety issue. However, Trekking Planner Nepal has a good relationship with the helicopter operators, from whom we can get up-to-date information about the current weather conditions and patterns. This allows for a safer flight, without a doubt.
Similarly, in case of bad weather conditions, the flights are delayed or even canceled, which allows us to omit any rigorous decision. It is also necessary to understand that the company prioritizes customer safety.

Check out our blog to learn more about Nepal's climate and weather conditions.

Experienced pilots:

The Everest Helicopter Tour is mainly conducted by pilots who are well-experienced in the region. They know the terrain and altitude well, so they know how to navigate through the region. Pilots of the Everest region are also familiar with the weather patterns and emergency procedures. Pilots hold a strong record of conducting the flight safely. Likewise, the helicopters undergo regular safety inspections to meet safety requirements.

Altitude sickness:

The Everest Helicopter tour lands at Kala Patthar, at an elevation of 5545 meters. Due to the high altitude, there is a risk of altitude sickness on the Everest helicopter tour. The atmosphere has lower oxygen levels, which can lead to symptoms like headache, nausea, and dizziness. So, to minimize the chances of altitude sickness, passengers usually spend only a short time at these high-altitude sites.

Emergency procedure:

Helicopter operators are well prepared for emergencies and unforeseen circumstances. In such conditions, the pilots proceed with emergency landing and evacuation procedures.

The Everest helicopter tour with a stay at Hotel Everest View is safe. Similarly, when associated with Trekking Planner Nepal, a reputed tour operator, has a good safety record and follows necessary safety protocols. Individuals are recommended to do some research regarding weather patterns and altitude sickness. This will give them an idea of keeping an open mind and countering any circumstances during the trip.

What are the documents and permits required?

As mentioned, the Everest helicopter tour with the Hotel Everest view landing package is conducted inside the Sagarmatha National Park, a protected area.

Being the protected area marked by the government of Nepal, specific permits and documents are required to enter the premises. Such permits and documents are thoroughly checked at various check posts by government officials, and if not provided, entry inside or further is prohibited. The documents and permits for Everest helicopter tour are as follows:

1. Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit

The Sagarmatha National Park entry permit is a document that enables visitors to enter the restricted area of the national park. The permit can be obtained from the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation, Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu. The cost of the permit, according to nationals, is provided below:

For foreigners: NPR 3,000 per person

There is no VAT applied to the permit cost; it is the same for all individuals outside of Nepal, including SAARC nationals and non-resident Nepalese citizens.

Is travel insurance required for the Everest helicopter tour and stay at the Hotel Everest View?

Travel insurance is not mandatory for the Everest helicopter tour or the Hotel Everest View stay. However, purchasing travel insurance can safeguard against various unforeseen circumstances.

Trekking Planner Nepal doesn’t provide an insurance facility and thus should be purchased from an authorized insurance company. So, we strongly recommend that everyone visiting Nepal for trekking and touring purchase travel insurance to safeguard against any risks and uncertainties.

The advantages of travel insurance are as follows:

Emergency evacuation: Purchase travel insurance, which includes the emergency evacuation policy.

Medical coverage and sickness: The tour can pose a risk of altitude sickness, which might require immediate medical attention. Purchase travel insurance to safeguard against medical coverage and sickness.

Trip cancellation and interruption: High altitudes are susceptible to immediate weather changes, making trip interruption possible. Similarly, the trip can be cancelled for various reasons, including personal interest. So, having travel insurance can provide compensation against such.

Lost goods and baggage: Although theft is rare in Nepal, there can be situations where goods, luggage, and other valuables are misplaced or lost. Travel insurance can provide compensation for lost goods and baggage.

Person liability: Some travel insurance policies include personal liability coverage, which can be vital if one accidentally causes damage or injury to others during the trip.
